Romantic Bathroom Renovation

Prettiest bathroom of my dreams 💖

I’m excited to share my experience of transforming this bathroom on a tight budget, all while juggling the project with a little tot hanging at my feet.

Total expenses (including application tools) $164

I renovated my grandma’s guest bathroom in her manufactured home. This place is outdated and dark, although it has fabulous bones and so much potential. The dark wood throughout her home is excessive, and the deep brown sucks in every drop of natural light.

I used chalk paint to cover the built-in cabinets. It was easy to apply, only needed a few coats, dried very fast, no prep needed, it left the cabinets milky and so romantic.

Then I moved onto the walls. They were a tragic yellow I could only describe as cig-smokers yellow. The warm lighting, dark wood, cig-yellow walls, and green floors were a crazy combo. To subtly fix this, I picked up a gallon of paint from Walmart in the color “Cows Milk”. Still a warm wall color, but because it wasn’t yellow-toned, it left room for the warmth of the lamps and overhead lighting. The cream opened up the room and reflected the light in such a way that it created a lot of softness in the space.

Next up, THE FLOOR. Most likely the biggest crime to this bathroom. The color was truly regrettable and made you feel uneasy just looking at it. But luckily, I found gorgeous checkered marble peel and stick tiles. These things are like magic! No messy grout, just peel, stick, and you’re done. The only difficult aspect of these tiles is measuring and cutting them right to fit in strange areas like the toilet. They were the most expensive part of the renovation, but absolutely worth it.

The backsplash was covered by extra peel and stick tile from my kitchen project. On a whim, I used them. I am SO happy I did. The mix of color and texture from the new cabinets, backsplash, and counters brought my vision to life. The tile I used is vinyl and of course, so easy to use. But wow, they look so stunning. They look like they’re real and made from glass.

The last part of the project was the counters… I used contact paper that has a pink marble look. Now, this stuff is integral to the project. It is integral to the final look. It was very affordable, and at the end of the day, doable. But it was a bit fiddly and took some patience to get right. I didn’t get it right; there were lots of mess-ups, restarts, wrinkles, and bubbles. This was at the end of my projects and patience, so I left it. If you want it perfect – I suggest doing it in very, very small sections. Precut and measure. Maybe have a second pair of hands to help keep everything in line.

But despite that minor setback, the transformation was incredible. Gave this guest bathroom an elegant, feminine, romantic flair. And the best part? I did it all on a shoestring budget, with my little one by my side.

Here’s to DIY victories, budget-friendly makeovers, and creating your dream space without breaking the bank. Happy renovating, everyone!
